Mama, Bouncing Back is Not For You

Dear Mama, Bouncing Back is Not For You.

Over the past few years, the term “bounce back” has become increasingly popular on social media about women’s bodies post-pregnancy.

When I see advertisements for “abs post-baby” or “bounce-back after baby”, I am horrified and worried for the mama reading it. The bounce-back culture creates unhealthy thoughts and habits for women.

Along with it comes the pressure…

Postpartum moms are extremely vulnerable, especially when it comes to regaining what they believe they’ve lost during pregnancy.

You birthed a miracle and society demands there is no evidence other than your sweet baby.
You’re expected to lose that weight, tighten your skin, hide the stretch marks, shrink your belly, get back to work…

Slow down, Mama.

Your body does not need to bounce back, and for some women, it may never return to how it was pre-pregnancy, and striving for a flat tummy too soon is dangerously unrealistic.

Remember that every season of life has its own set of challenges and blessings.

What if you could release yourself from the unrealistic expectations of your body “bouncing back” after delivery?

What if you could celebrate your body and build resilience for the future?

What if you honored your body where it is?

It’s your responsibility to gently love your evolved body in this season and treat it with the same nurture and care you give to your baby.

Because you deserve it!

Instead of focusing on bouncing back, we help moms reclaim their confidence through solid postpartum recovery principles.

Hear me out – There are so many “resources” available online that anyone can claim to have the right information, even if they’re not educated or qualified.

Be sure to find providers you trust for additional guidance because not every influencer will have education-backed information.

You deserve to have a qualified specialist who CARES about your long-term recovery and wellness. You likely won’t find that using ‘free’ resources, unless it’s mine 😉.

As a Pelvic Floor Occupational Therapist and Pre/Postnatal Corrective Exercise Specialist, my goal is to help moms achieve success and fulfillment through their pre and postnatal journey with support, coaching, training, & evidence-based education and practice.

By embodying the three core principles of core rehab: positioning, posture, and progression,
I created the Postpartum Movement Academy for a comprehensive done-for-you exercise guide.

The Academy is a self-paced recovery program that breaks the mold of typical postpartum fitness, by strengthening your inner core and confidence without wasting time.

I created this program after I healed my own 4 finger diastasis recti in 10 months.

Taking care of your strength right now is so important.

When you are taken care of, you come into alignment mentally and spiritually.

When you take care of yourself, you rediscover your spark to show up as a happier mama.

Then your whole household thrives.

Don’t let fear of the journey stop you from taking the first step.

I’m here with you every step of the way.

Until next time mama. 😘

xoxo, Jemila Medley
